Setting Dieting Goals

Setting dieting goals
You should set dieting goals that are aggressive but still reasonably attainable, Weight loss goals are achieved by taking small steps like one month at a time rather than just a distant number. If you only look at the final goal it may seem overwhelming, but by completing one month at a time you will gain more confidence in yourself. If you are short one month, you can review where you went wrong and set your dieting goals again for the next month.
Doing this for yourself
If you are doing this to please someone else, you will usually fail. By setting your dieting goals for your own benefit, you will psychologically find this much more rewarding and be more inclined to see it through to the end. As an added incentive you should also reward yourself for each milestone you reach.
Losing weight
When setting dieting goals, it is better to lose weight slowly: normally you should aim for about 2 pounds a week or less. The amount of weight you lose is generally influenced by several factors: exercise, reaction to stress, health, and genetic makeup. Your doctor should be consulted if you have any other health issues as to what exercises are safe for you to do. With moderate weight loss, you should aim for about 5-10% and consume about 1400 calories a day.
Preventing hunger
Don't skip breakfast as this will make you irritable and more prone to cheat. Eating a sufficient amount of protein will keep you feeling full longer and is less fattening than carbohydrates. Plan ahead to have some low calorie snacks and drinks with you (particularly water). Also eating some bulky vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower will help stave off hunger. These tips will help to keep you on the straight and narrow when setting dieting goals.
